|Watch out world, here comes New Zealand|
A new national convention centre with a capacity to seat 3500 proposed for Auckland will significantly boost New Zealand’s plans to be a serious player in the international meetings market.
Minister for Economic Development, David Carter and Prime Minister John Key made the announcement this week, anticipating the new facility would attract 33,000 delegates a year and pump an additional $90 million into the economy.
The proposal comes at a time when the Christchurch Convention Centre will reportedly be closed until the end of 2012 following damage from the February earthquake.
