| Thai meetings and events not all washed out, says MICE bureau
BANGKOK – The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) says while recent floods have affected central provinces along the Chao Phraya River, MICE destinations in other regions including Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket and Had Yai have not been affected.

| Hong Kong reaches MICE milestone
HONG KONG – Overnight MICE visitor arrivals to Hong Kong reached a landmark of one million for the first time ever within the first nine months of a year this year. By end September, the figure totalled 1,028,989, a 15.0 per cent increase over the same period last year.

| Dreamtime is over but Sydney’s wide awake
SYDNEY – Tourism Australia’s Dreamtime 2011 concluded last week with more than 70 select international buyers in attendance.
They had enjoyed a rich line-up of incentive activities pre-tour and while in the host city of Sydney, participated in a half day of presentations and a full day of teambuilding activities. These included a corporate sailing regatta by East Sail and surfing on Bondi Beach by Let’s Go Surfing.

| Meliá adds in Asia
PALMA DE MALLORCA – Meliá Hotels International will open hotels in Xi'an, China and Danang, Vietnam.
The Gran Meliá Xi'an Hotel is the second hotel for Meliá in China after the Gran Meliá Shanghai, and is located in New Qujiang district in Xi'an. It opens 2013 with its own convention centre, 419 rooms, two restaurants, a bar, and spa.

| INTERNATIONAL AUDITORS GREEN MALAYSIA
Delegates of the recently concluded 70th Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Conference 2011 successfully raised RM25,000 (USD8,379, AUD8,038) to plant 250 trees at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) as part of the Malaysia Business Tourism Green Programme. The programme initiated by MyCEB was launched last year, whereby event delegates are given the opportunity to contribute a minimum USD10 for the tree planting activity. Regarded as the world’s largest internal auditors gathering, The IIA 2011 attracted a record 2,200 delegates from 93 countries.
